ERP Integration Services That Connect the Rest of Your Stack
An ERP is meant to be the system of record, but orders, inventory and shipping data still arrive by spreadsheet and email. Vascoh integrates your ERP with the systems around it so data enters once and stays consistent.

ERP integration moves data between the ERP and everything outside it: ecommerce stores, CRM, warehouse and shipping tools, EDI trading partners, payroll, banks and shop-floor systems. Typical objects are customers, items, orders, inventory levels, invoices, payments and journal entries.
The ERP almost never replaces these systems. It needs them to feed it clean data, and the integration is what keeps the ERP current.
Direction and timing should be decided per flow. Orders usually move in near real time, while price lists and item master data may update nightly. Documenting those choices up front stops arguments later about why a figure differs between two screens.
Why do ERP projects need more than the ERP?
Panorama Consulting's 2026 ERP Report, based on 170 respondents, found that more than a quarter of organizations were over budget. Among those over budget, the most common reason was an unexpected need for additional technology. Panorama observes that ERP decisions now involve a wider ecosystem including analytics platforms, integration middleware and industry-specific add-ons.
The practical lesson is to budget for the integration layer from the start. Teams that treat it as an afterthought discover it during user testing.
Change management matters as much as code. When an ERP rollout is under pressure, integrations are the first thing cut, and teams then run on spreadsheets for months. Scoping integration as part of the ERP project plan, with its own owner and test cycle, avoids that outcome.
Which ERP integrations come up most often?
Patterns repeat across industries even though the systems differ.
For wholesale and manufacturing clients, the usual first target is order entry. Orders come from a webstore, an EDI partner and a sales rep's email, and each lands in the ERP with different completeness. A single intake service that validates items, prices and ship-to addresses before posting stops bad orders from reaching the warehouse.
- Ecommerce to ERP: Shopify or WooCommerce orders create sales orders, and inventory and tracking numbers return
- CRM to ERP: closed deals create customers and sales orders, and payment status flows back
- EDI: 850 purchase orders in and 856 advance ship notices out, mapped to ERP documents
- MES or shop floor to ERP: production counts and material consumption update work orders
- Bank and payment feeds into the general ledger
What technical issues cause trouble in ERP integration?
ERP APIs are often slower and stricter than SaaS APIs. NetSuite limits concurrent requests per account, SAP environments may expose interfaces only through OData or IDocs, and many on-premise systems offer nothing beyond database tables or file drops. An integration needs batching, a queue and awareness of those limits.
Master data is the other source of defects. Item codes, units of measure and customer IDs must be mapped before transactions flow, or orders arrive but cannot be posted. Vascoh builds the cross-reference tables first and validates them with the people who maintain the data.
Error handling in ERP integration needs a human workflow. When an order fails to post because an item is inactive, someone must see the error, fix the master data and resubmit. Vascoh builds an exceptions screen for this so failures do not sit in a log file.
Do you need middleware for ERP integration?
With one or two connections, direct integrations are fine. With more, a middleware layer or integration platform keeps mappings in one place. The MuleSoft finding that 80% of organizations cite data integration as their biggest obstacle to adopting AI suggests that a clean integration layer also pays off later, when AI tools need consistent data.
How a project runs
From first call to working system.
Map objects and owners
Vascoh lists which ERP objects each outside system reads or writes, and who owns master data.
Build with a queue
Integrations are coded against the ERP's supported API, with batching, retries and a log of every document.
Parallel run and cutover
Results are compared against the manual process for a period before the manual steps are removed.
Questions
Common questions
What is ERP integration?
It is the automated exchange of data between an ERP and other systems such as ecommerce, CRM, shipping and shop-floor software, so staff do not re-enter information.
What are examples of ERP integration?
Examples include creating ERP sales orders from Shopify orders, sending inventory levels back to a webstore, importing EDI purchase orders and posting production data from a MES.
Can older on-premise ERPs be integrated?
Usually yes. If there is no modern API, integration can work through database views, flat file exchange or a small adapter service.
How much does ERP integration cost?
Cost depends on the ERP, the number of flows and data volumes. The cost of the integration layer should be included in the ERP budget from the start.
